As seen in the San Jose Mercury Newspaper…

Philippe Hill of Alameda wears a portrait of his friend’s mother who passed away last month as he prepares to participate in the LIVESTRONG Challenge in San Jose on July 13, 2008. Over 2,000 participants joined Lance Armstrong in an effort to raise funds and awareness to fight against cancer. (Gary Reyes/Mercury News) ( Gary Reyes )

I lost my biggest fan

A few weeks ago on Father’s Day (June 15th) my Mother passed away after a 17 year battle with that shit called cancer. It began in her breast and after three bouts had spread, literally, from her brain to her foot. If it weren’t for my Mom there would be no pissed off chimp. She was an artist in her own right. She took blocks of Italian marble and chiseled them into flawless works of art. A friend of mine is doing the Live Strong Challenge on her behalf to raise money for cancer research. If you have some change between your couch cushions feel fee to send it this way… Gail Cook Van Dyke

Here are photos of her work and photos of us.

I love you, Mom.
